We are continuing to invest in modern manufacturing equipment, incorporating up to date cutting edge technology. In addition to our first automatic cartridge line - "a world first" - we are installing a second new automated production line end March/early April 2001. |

. |
This continues our investment programme and represents another unique development at Edwin Lowe Ltd - whilst at the same time another technical leap forward in idler manufacturing methods. |
| This second new production line has been specifically designed to manufacture our very heavy duty range of cartridges - up to and including, for example: |
| An 8.0"/203.2 mm o/d x 6308/40 mm cartridge (CEMA E+) - in less than 15 seconds. |
| Furthermore this new line will provide backup/extra capacity to our existing automatic line - i.e. it will also be able to manufacture all those components presently produced on Cartridge Line No. 1. |
|
As a parallel development - we have recently launched our new range of 6308/40 mm bearing housing cartridges to suit a range of idler specifications to a maximum diameter of 8.0"/203.2 mm. This cartridge is also based upon our extremely successful existing design, which has now gained wide approval by idler manufacturers around the world. |

| During the last two years the company has completely reorganised its business and focused upon bringing their cartridge manufacturing technology up to true 21st century standards. We have therefore: |
|
. |
| Developed new technology for manufacturing steel bearing housings at rates in excess | |
| . | of 2,000 per hour |
| Continued to improve our cartridge designs in the light of latest material and component | |
| . | technological developments |
| In July 2002 - we introduced the Edwin Lowe Ltd brand of ball bearings to our | |
| . | customers. These are manufactured exclusively for us. |
| These are specifically designed to suit the company's range of bearing housing cartridges | |
| The first two specifications of these new bearings are now on stream and have replaced | |
| . | standard bearings refs: 6204/20 mm and 6205/25 mm. Other dedicated bearing |
| . | specifications will be introduced in future |
| The company is also in the process of completely refurbishing its manufacturing | |
| . | premises in Birmingham, UK to accommodate its new range of state of the art |
| . | manufacturing equipment |
